CARTA Downtown

Downtown Miami has an urban compact form. Carta Downtown needs to escape from this urban layout. The site has only one facade to the street, and the others are party walls. A way that the building can escape from this condition is having open spaces that allow students social interactions, natural ventilation and light into the building. Another idea is having a transparent lobby that receives the views of the street and also serves as a transition space between the street and the building. To have setbacks in different points, breaks the rhythm of the party wall and brings natural light into the spaces. The new building is going to be inside a skin that allows it to escape by having views, natural light and ventilation, relation to the street and open spaces.
